Mora Clock with Carved Crown

Tall-case Mora clock, Sweden circa 1820, with beautifully carved crown.  It was the custom in older times for a Swedish bride to wear a floral crown to her wedding.  The feminine shapes of these clocks with their rococo curves reminded their owners of young women, and the cases were often embellished with bridal crowns and sometimes carvings representing the decorative belts and brooches worn on that special day.

This clock retains its original face and clockworks, as well as an early mismatched pair of weights.  It has been newly cleaned and adjusted by our master clock-maker and keeps good time.
