Mora Clock Dated 1815
Beautiful early Mora clock, Sweden signed and dated 1815, scraped back to its original blue paint with salmon detail. The bonnet houses an unusually large hand-painted dial and the original clockworks. At the top is a modest crown with a stylized rose at the center. The body is beautifully curved with carvings highlighted in salmon paint.
There is a glass window in the belly that shows the swinging brass pendulum bob, as well as the more recent interior decoration. It seems that someone renovated the clock in 1933, adding some traditional rosemaling to the inside of the case but preserving the original signature and date.
Our clock maker has cleaned and adjusted the clockworks, and this lovely old clock is once again keeping perfect time.
