Gustavian Secretary with Pierced Cornice

Period Gustavian secretary, Sweden circa 1820, in two parts.  The upper, library section has double doors, each with raised lozenges with vertical reeding.  Inside are three fixed shelves, the top one with a graceful curved shape and unusual slits for spoons. The straight cornice has an applied central rosette with curved piercings on either side.

The lower section has a slant front which opens onto a fitted interior with eight drawers and an open compartment.  Below that is a cabinet with raised panel doors and two fixed shelves, all on a simple bracket base.  Original hardware throughout.
