Period Swedish Secretary from Ångermanland

Wonderful rural interpretation of the late Gustavian style in a two part secretary from Ångermanland, Sweden, circa 1820.

The library section has two shelves inside a cabinet with guilloche carving on either side, dentil molding at the top, and exuberant fretwork at the bottom. The two doors have central panels with applied lozenges.

The lower section has an interior fitted with several drawers and a small drawer-like cabinet above the central storage space. Under the writing surface is another cabinet with guilloche detail on a simple bracket base.
