Folk Art Painting with Four Horses
Fragment of larger Swedish bonad illustrating the story of Joseph’s brothers in Egypt (Genesis 42:5-11). Each of the spotted horses is a different color but they are all sporting decorative saddles and bridles. The background is filled with typical decorative swags at the top and crosshatching and striations below. Perhaps from the Sunnerbo school, circa 1820.
Tempera on paper in very good condition. Newly framed with archivally safe materials.
