Qing dynasty Chinese ancestor painting with five figures, 19th century, painted on tightly woven silk with ink, mineral colors, Chinese vegetable pigments, and gold. The large hanging scroll shows a civilian official with his wives and perhaps his parents. The rank badges worn by the official and his first wife indicate his status as a subordinate civilian official.
