Early Hope Chest from the Austrian Tyrol

Tyrolean hope chest, ca.1780, with original decorative paint. The front has three panels, each with a rose tree in an urn, and the three are surrounded with a chain of rose sprigs. Each end is decorated with a compass design with four points.
